				Hi everyone.

I am having a nightmare trying to bridge my modem with my new DIR-855 router.

Originally I was using a Linksys WAG54Gv2 Wireless-G ADSL gateway at home and all was running smoothly.  Then I decided on upgrading my network to Gigabit and Wireless-N, so after much research, decided on buying the DIR-855.

Reconfigured my Linksys to "bridge mode only" and adjusted the settings accordingly.  Connected it from port 1 to the WAN port on the DIR-855.  Then went to the DIR-855 and configured it for PPPoE (dynamic IP) with my ISP's settings.  Originally left the DNS servers as 0.0.0.0 so that the DIR-855 could grab them from the modem.

Rebooted the router and checked the status.  OLED said that I was "ONLINE" and the status screen showed that everything was okay, and had autoconfigured the DNS settings. Then I attempted to connect to a website.  Web browser would resolve DNS no problems, but then it would just sit there saying "waiting for response from remote server".  Attempted to ping a website, and it resolved the DNS and was giving me successful pings.

Went back to the configuration screen of DIR-855 and entered DNS servers manually, still no good.  Enabled DNS relay.  Still no good.   So in the end I thought that maybe my Linksys didn't want to talk to the D-Link, so I went out and bought a D-Link DSL-520B ADSL2+ Single port ethernet router.  Surely D-Link to D-Link would have to work!!  Wrong!!  It still had the exact same problems as the Linksys!!   >:(

So, the only way I can make it work now is by having the Linksys (or my new D-Link modem) configured to establish the PPPoE internet connection and enable DHCP, and then connect it to the WAN port of the DIR-855 and set the DIR-855 to Dynamic IP (DHCP).  Obviously the problem with this is that i'm unable to do port forwarding properly, which is a big problem for me.  My firmware on the DIR-855 is 1.12WW.

Why isn't this working?  Please help!!!  Thanks  :'(

It has been posted that the newer firmware update can affect the DNS Relay functions.  Have you tried to assign DNS server IP addresses?
