Title: speed difference Guest Zone <-> standard WiFi zone
Post by: miura on December 27, 2016, 12:24:25 AM
Is there a difference between speed of guest zone and standard wifi when i use the defaults ? with my standard wifi I get 180 Mbits but with the guest zone i only get 20 Mbit.

The only difference i see is the security mode ... (guest zone uses WEP)

What happens if you change from WEP to WPA2?
WEP is not recommended as it's now a unsecure mode since it was hacked a while back.

What Hardware version is your router? Look at sticker under the router case.
-> A1

Link>What Firmware version is currently loaded? Found on the routers web page under status.
-> 1.09 Fri 26 Sep 2014 (the latest i can find on the Dlink site)

What region are you located?
-> Europe (Belgium)

i know about the WEP security mode, but it's only used for visitors ...

i did not test the guest zone with WPA2 ... i will try to do this later today

Considering LAN side speeds are more important, I presume that maybe Guest Zone may not have the same priority and would be sufficient for GZ users...
