Title: LAN Backup not removing files
Post by: carvalho2707 on January 03, 2017, 06:25:27 AM
Hi guys,

I've purchase my NAS last week and i was trying to sync a folder with pictures between my computer and the NAS. to achieve this I've created a weekly incremental backup for the picture folder but after some tests i noticed that if i have a file called "pic1" and in my computer i delete that same file when the backup occurs the file is not deleted in the NAS.

Is this normal? what can i do to change this? Or if it's not possible do you have any other idea so i can sync one folder with files(pictures) between my PC and my NAS?

Regards

You are describing what a backup is and does - you transfer files to the backup medium and they stay there until you actually do something with them.

It sounds as if what you want is synchronisation between your computer and the NAS.  For that you need RSYNC on your computer and a GUI interface to it.  You must take care when you use it because it is quite capable of deleting files at both ends if it is not setup correctly (always do a dummy run first and read the logs of what would have been done).
