Title: Big problems with my DIR-895L
Post by: gogerry on February 01, 2017, 12:32:55 PM
Hello - Big problems with my DIR-895L.  Having same problem with power light coming on white and turning orange.  No wifi lights at all.  Have done factory reset and firmware uploads - no change.  Very disappointed with this product considering I thought since I spent good money for it and read all the reviews.  Support is not helpful

Does this happen with and with out the router being connected to the ISP modem?

Can you have a look at the power adapter block and it's tip. Can you or have someone measure the tip plug and make sure it's out putting the same voltage and amps listed on the sticker?

I'm wondering if the FW install is bad maybe.

Can you do this? See if you can get to the Recovery mode and do a clean install of v1.12 using FF. Might even try v1.00 first. Be sure to clear browser caches before and after sending the FW file and disable ANY and all browser security plug-ins and PC software security temporarily while you do this:
Emergency Recovery Mode (http://forums.dlink.com/index.php?topic=44909.msg163599#msg163599)

Don't use v1.13.

Has the router worked at all before or after updating to v1.13? Or has this been the same behavior all along?

I have completed the Emergency Recovery Mode several times.  I always get the SUCCESS on the upload.

I did install the older firmware v1.00 and got the SUCCESS message, however no change to the behaviour of the router
I also installed the new version v1.13 and got the SUCCESS message, however no change to the behaviour of the router

It as not worked at all

Can you try with v1.12 one last time? I Think v1.13 isn't for users in the NA region.

v1.12 is. Please let us know.
Were AMPs good as well?

I just got off the phone with DLink.  They are authorizing the return of the equipment for exchange

There must be something wrong with it....

What I was leaning towards.

When you get the new unit, see what FW is loaded first on it before upgrading. If the unit isn't at v1.12 already, you can upgrade to v1.12.
Don't upgrade to v1.13 just yet. I was told the v1.13 is a EU change and isn't for the NA region.

Thanks very much for your help, so far.  Feels good to get some pressure off by talking to someone who relates to the problem

I just uploaded the older firmware version, just to see if it would help - regretfully, it did not.  The only difference is that the power light just goes from white to orange - no more blinking

Have you heard of them granting an exchange ?

Ok I was hoping maybe v1.12 may do something different however seems the router is just broke.

Let us know what the version of FW you get on the new unit coming in. I recommend that you leave what ever is loaded on it and test it out first before doing any updates.

I think it depends on problems at hand and if the RMA units continue to fail then maybe an exchange. I don't know what they would exchange it for since the 895 is the top of the line. The 890L has been solid however it's a step down from the 895L.

Sorry about the frustrations. Understand about spending money on something and have it not work.

Shoot, I'm in the NA Region (North America) & already updated to 1.13. I haven't had any issues though, should I find a way to downgrade?

You can downgrade to v1.12 if you like.

Use this to do it:
