Title: Dlink DIR-816 wireless router problem (repeater mode)
Post by: leed80 on May 10, 2017, 12:12:09 PM
I recently purchased D-Link DIR 816 AC750 Dual Band Router which i setup repater as above and it worked perfectly after a few hours or switch off the router and open it again it stopped working , I reset the router to factory default settings and then is reconfigured it and then it again worked perfectly for a few hours but then it stopped working again .

From what I have observed every time I reset the router and reconfigure it it works perfectly .

I request anybody who can help to help me in resolving this issue.

What is the Mfr and model of the main host router that you have the 816L connected too?
What wireless modes are you using on the main host router?
Which frequency is the 816L connecting too? 2.4 or 5Ghz?

I used 2.4
because 5GHz can't discover my host router

What is the distance between the 816 and the main host router?

Try setting single mode N on the main host router, and manual channel 11 or 13...

Try this, disable wifi security on the main host router temporarily if you can. Then set up the 816 to connect to the SSID name with an OPEN security mode.

Hi,
sorry for delay,
I tried OPEN security mode for a day and WPA2-PSK with AES Encryption mode for a day
I think it's much better, not 100% but better than before and acceptable,
but WPA2-PSK with TKIP encryption mode, not solved.

Do you think that problem is solved perfectly?
Do you think (WPA2-PSK with AES Encryption mode) more security than (WPA2-PSK with TKIP Encryption mode) ?

See i found many people have same problem and i didn't find clearly solutions
just found this unexplained solution quoted above
can you explain to me what does BSDC mean and how to apply it on host router or repeater?

He only wrote that, no detail.
Quote from: BSDC
Change the MAC clone settings to MAC clone from PC.

Worked perfectly ..............

Thank you DLink Tech Support who solved it very quickly.

WPA2 and AES is preferred. There maybe compatibility problems when using TPIK between these two.

Mac Clone is only using for internet connections between a ISP modem and a router connected on it's WAN port.
