Title: 615 vD1 Speeds
Post by: PureLoneWolf on July 26, 2009, 02:44:04 AM
Hi all

I have just replaced a faulty Netgear 614 due to overheating and wireless issues and I must say that I am very happy with the router - Setup was sweet, wireless range is good, connection is solid.  The router handles my ISPs disconnect policy a lot better than my Netgear did.

I do have an issue though, with the Netgear, torrenting would deliver 1.2mb per second downloads...on the DIR 615 I can't get above 800k - I have upgraded from the out of the box v4.00 firmware to v4.11, but this hasn't made any difference.  QoS is disabled and the ports are set exactly as they were on the Netgear.

I would be greatful for any suggestions

Many thanks

**EDIT**

I just noticed that it isn't just torrent - It is everything - The router seems to impose a maximum download of around 800k and it is going through the same modem that my Netgear was.  I plugged the Netgear back in and was instantly up to 1.2mb again.  Any ideas?

I have documented speed differences I found between my 615 and the Linksys I just bought. These are no where near as bad as yours, but they are differences, maybe the d-link does not process the information as fast as the Linksys, I am not sure.

Also speed tests with my dlink were always 20 - 30Mb, with my linksys I have been during 36 - 40Mb constantly, so there is also a speed difference between the units.
