I had an old d-link DI-614+ router. When I up upgraded the firmware on my Apple ipod touch 2nd Generation(3.0) the old router was have trouble connecting to it, and when it did i, the speed was slowed down to a crawl. On the Apple forums it was suggested that I purchase a new router because the 614+ was out dated. So I purchased the DIR-615. I upgraded the firmware to 3.11, and I'm still have the same problems with a brand new router.
Does anybody here have any problems with the connection and speed of an ipod touch 2nd generation with firmware 3.0 and the DIR-615 router ?
Everything was ok with apple older firmware and the old DI-614+. I'm just trying to pin point the problem.
Is the problem the router or is it ipod (firmware 3.0) ?

I have the same exact problem. The Dir-615 works perfectly with my computers but it keeps giving the ipod an ip address that is way out of range. So it says connected but it cant access the internet. I have to keep resetting it, every 10 times i reset it, it may work properly for a day or two.

Also make sure your router is sending a b or g signal as the itouch cant handle wireless N.

it's on mixed b and g

disable the firewall settings on the router, make sure QOS is turned off, and make sure mac filtering is turned off

I disabled SPI, anti spoof settings, pptp, ipsec, rtsp, sip, opn the firewall. Disable qos...I have a 5 mbit line and speed on ipod is 600kbps (download). I hit 4.8m in a wired connection and 2.8m on a wireless laptop. The laptop and ipod are next to each other. As far as dropping the connection is concerned, i'll wait a few hours before I report back on that.
