Hardware Version: B1
Firmware Version: 1.08 05/15/2009
Software Version (Easy Search): 4700
Harddrive 1: ST31500341AS
Harddrive 2: ST31500341AS
Problem Type: □ Function does not work
Problem Description: Trying to configure my gmail account for email notification, when I run a test I just get a popup window "sending...." "waiting on dns323's ip address" that never goes away.
Function Tested: E-MAIL ALERTS
Test Procedure (steps to reproduce): I used the gmail settings from the website (http://mail.google.com/support/bin/answer.py?answer=13287) and noticed an option I could not set on the DNS323 - Use STARTTLS: Yes (some clients call this SSL) - is this just automatic on the DNS323, or not yet an option on the dns323? I did try the 2 ports noted 465 and 587, neither made a difference. Even tried it again after a powercycle, no luck.
Thanks!

Can say it works in 1.07. I'm waiting for the official release before installing 1.08.
I'm using the GMAIL SMTP settings for email alerts.

Which port do you use for that configuration on 107?
-
Worked for me.
Login method:Account
Username:gmail acount
Password:password
Port:587
smtp server:smtp.gmail.com
sender email:gmail account
reciever email: anything
check smtp authentication

No port settings on configuration in 1.07.

abeNdorg,
I realize this does not apply to F/W above 1.07, but take a look at the following detailed steps:

Let me know if this doesn't work. (I'm considering upgrading to F/W ver. 1.08b05 and I'll post my results here.)
Also, make sure you have enabled POP/SMTP in your GMail account's settings. GMail does not see my I.P. Addresses behind my router... It only sees my router's I.P. Address.
