Post by: Minuano on August 02, 2009, 02:29:04 PM
First I would like to apologize for my poor communication in English. I am Brazilian, the city of Porto Alegre, Rio Grande do Sul recently bought a router DIR-655, P/N: BIR655ANA .... A3, H/W Ver: A3, F/W Ver: 1.11. I need the correct link to download the firmware to 1:32 H/W Ver: A3

Thanks for the help,

Fabiano

Remember: Once you install 1.32 you cannot go back to 1.2x version!

I think that ftp the firmware versions for h/w A3 as mentioned above? Not found anything that refers to A3. We have colleagues who say that 1:32 is full of problems. You know the reason?

that is true, 1.32 has lots of problems. I dont know about the link you sent, well i know what the link is but i dont get where you going with that?

the problems with the 1.32 is that the USB port does not work properly (shareport) and the DNS is all messed up. those are the two MAIN problems that i know

No problems here with 1.32. But have a look on the forum. Every firmwware has problems with someone, so there is no way to predict which will work better for you.

If you don't have problems, do not upgrade ("if it ain't broken, don't fix it").

There is no specific firmware for every revision. One size fits all.

ok, thanks for the information. I always thought that the firmware versions for the A1, A2, A3 and A4 were different. I can then upgrade the firmware on my A3 for an A4 firmware?

A3 and A4 are the same (thats what i think) like people who has A1 or A2 or w/e downloads the same firmware.

thats what i think.. if not then im doing something wrong. :)

Once again for the enthousiasts:

A1 => A2: different LEDs
A2 => A3: different switch (Vitesse => Realtek)
A3 => A4: different wireless radio

A1: Original Product had Green LED's

A2: Same internal Hardware as A1 but has Blue LED's

A3: Has a new switch

A4: Has new wireless radio

Does that help any?

I woudl go for the A2 (my own version  ;D). The Vitesse switch IMHO is better thand the Realtek used. A4 shoudl also be a good one, although they still haven't optimized the firmware enough.

Hey Lycan,

I was wondering if you can give all of us some updates about the firmware.

Whats the status so far? like have you guys figured out a new firmware and are testing it before it becomes a beta? or the new firmware is still in progress?

Thanks ^_^

Gentlemen,

I'm still in doubt. This firmware is 1:32 and work in the four versions (A1, A2, A3 and A4)? There are variations of 1:32 for each firmware version of hardware?

One firmware for all versions.  I have the A2 and am running the 1.32NA with NO issues.

Is this specificly about shareport?

well it was meant for a general update, like when is the new firmware coming? and what issues will be fixed?

but yeah, you can add the shareport as well, and also the DNS relay problem. If its ok with you to give us update on the issues you guys are working on, and in more detail the shareport and the DNS.

Thanks!!! :)

The DNS issue is tricky. We're not able to find any evidence to back your claims of failure. We're invistigating other avenues for possible solutions.

As for the shareport, I don't have an update, but I will be relaying the failures to the PM in charge of that particular project.

Sweet, thank you for the updates ^_^

To share my experience, if i enable my DNS, it will last me about 3 days, but since it is disabled, my router has been running pretty smooth for 7 days straight.

as for the shareport, it only works when i restart the router. after the 2nd day, i cannot connect to the shareport without restarting. But heres something interesting, after the 2 day mark, when i try to connect to the sharport, it says connected but the device does not show. Before on the 1.31 firmware, it tries to connect and then goes back to available, but for this 1.32, it actually connects but i dont see anything on "my computer". This is whats happening from my router, others are different like it just wont connect without a reboot.

but yeah thanks again for the update :)
