My two nas are usually within 5 deg of each other.
Today I noticed my DNS-323 running at 104F and my DNS-321 running at 138F.
Both are running a pair of 1.5T seagate drives in a raid 1 configuration. Is the
temperature of my dns-321 at 138F something I should worry about?
Thanks,
Gary

I took the front cover off and noticed the front airvents were clogged up. I cleaned it up and checked the temperature before putting the front cover on. Temps dropped from 138F to 127F in minutes.
Anyone have higher temps than 138F?

I got the temps down to 120F with the front cover halfway off or about 2" gap at the bottom.
I decided to close the cover and in about 5-10 mins the temps went up to 125F. I pulled the front bezel cover up to leave an approximately 2" gap, waited a few minutes and the temps are back down to 120F. Anyone notice this behavior?

What should the temps be? I really don't know hot hot a hard drive should be running, and am generally curious.
My WD Blacks were running insanely hot (for the 1 hour my DNS-321 was working), but I shortly after learned that the Blacks are simply not meant for a NAS at all. I wonder what the difference in temperature is between the Blacks and the Greens...

I am in Phoenix and it is summer. Room temp is a bit over 80F and in stand-by my DNS-321 was running 111F with two WD7500AADS HDDs at 96F just coming out of stand-by. With the front faceplate on I may run 116-118F system and 108F for the HDDs when system has been working heavily for a while.

Do a lot of people keep the front faceplate off? I've been reading quite a few people talking about that...
Also, would it make a difference if this thing ran while on its side? It seems that I may have an area that would allow better air flow, but it would not be able to stand up-right.
