Title: Mirror using 2 drives of different sizes
Post by: mx-5 on August 04, 2009, 12:33:32 PM
I'm considering the DNS-323.  I currently have a 1.0TB and a 1.5TB drive.  Can I use them and create 2 volumes: a 1.0TB RAID1 and an unmirrored 500GB volume?

Thanks.

If you start with both drives in the device and select RAID 1, it will automatically mirror around 998gb as Raid 1, and the remaining space will turn into a JBOD partition ( un mirrored ).

Exactly what I wanted to hear.  Thanks.

BTW, is it possible to create 2 mirrored volumes?  ie:

500gb mirrored
500gb mirrored
500gb JBOD

Thanks.

D-Link Multimedia at least give the guy a real answer.

The 323 only offers mirrorring of the entire drive that I've seen, not partitions.

Clearly my answer was a fake answer.
