Title: Unit not working, power led always flashing
Post by: Just2Bad on August 09, 2009, 10:35:38 AM
I upgraded to firmware 1.08beta, everything worked fine until a did a restore to factory default and rebooted the unit. Now it's unable to boot completely the power led flash forever and the nas is unaccessible via the web interface.

Can I know at least if I'm the only one who got this problem ? I have a replacement sent to me now but I would like to know if this was cause by a defective unit or will I get the same problem with this beta firmware and my new unit ????

at least I would have appreciate a response from D-link about this issue, don't think it's normal to mess my unit just by doing a restore to default, maybe I just had a badluck with my unit

I just got back from vacation not sure why nobody else lended you a hand.

With both drives removed have you done the following;

1. Power cycle the device
2. Hold paperclip in the reset hole on the back for 10-15 seconds before removing.

Can you verify the following,

1. What is the DNS-323 plugged into (network wise). Have you tried powering it up without the network cable attached?
2. Have you tried direct attaching it to your PC?

If you have done the following and it STILL wont stop blinking the center power light it is failing at bootup and may need to be RMA'd.

yes I tried all those steps with no success....

The new unit is on way home. My concern is that I want to use the 1.08 firmware again but I'm now afraid of doing so

There is always a few units out there that run the possibility of bricking on Firmware updates. Infact all units are succeptable to bricking on any firmware update because you are updating the flash. Beta or official the risk is usually about the same.

I have units here that I load every revision of beta code on so I don't think its anything specific to the code but more the device.

I've got the same issue, but I haven't upgraded the firmware.  I haven't had the thing working yet, I've periodically been able to connect to 192.168.0.50 whie it is in bridge mode, but now whenever I try to reset it I just get a flashing power LED. and I cannot get to the setup.  Do I need to replace the unit or am I doing something wrong?

What do you mean by "bridge mode"?
