Title: Xbox live 360 dropping connection with DIR-655
Post by: snapper on August 09, 2009, 11:40:21 AM
Guys,

I am going crazy trying to resolve this issue.  I setup port forwarding with the following ports open:

TCP:  53,80,3074
UDP: 53,88,3074

Also, set the Xbox 360 configuration with all static entries (IP, GW, DNS).  In addition, just as a test I enable DMZ for a couple of minutes as a test as well, with no luck.  The XBOX 360 is hard-wired to the router.  I have no PC's issues with my other systems connected directly to the router.  Also, if I bypass the router, I have no dropping issues at all, using the same ethernet cable.  My download speed is 15mbps and around 3mbps on the upload.  Is there any other options within the router I should change?  Any suggestions at all would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

What firmware do you have installed on the router?

I have checked around at past posts regarding Xbox Live issues and I didn't find a working solution yet.  Anyhow, here is the router information:   A1/A2      Firmware 1.21

Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Check to see if SecureSpot is enabled, if it is disable it. You could also try to disabling DNS Relay, after doing so reboot the XBOX so the changes with take affect.

Where is the option to disable the DNS relay?  I will try that first before upgrading the firmware.  Your help is greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Just curious how you have your network setup? Are you running off the MAC table, or do you have a static IP assigbed to the Xbox? Are you letting DHCP assign ip's?

Unfortunately, disabling the DNS Relay option didn't work.  I even tried to configure the QoS for Xbox as priority 1.  Still having sporadic issues with it.  My DIR-655 A1/A2, it must be the first of its kind.  I guess at this point I will upgrade to firmware 1.32NA and let you guys know the result.  As a side note, I installed the 1.21 firmware (without securespot).  I know if I upgrade from 1.31 on, I cannot downgrade the firmware, which I was hesitant on doing.

wow, so many issues with this d-link firmware. great piece of hardware that is crippled by the firmware.

for a new router, get a cheap asus and flash with dd-wrt or tomato. or get a buffalo router and do the same.

Another thing to try, would be connecting your XBox directly to your modem. There is the possibility that it's your ISP/modem that could be causing the problem.
