I would just like to hear recommendations on a lightning protector for the coax cable.
today we had a bad storm, there was a loud pop and my Motorola modem, vonage box
and my dlink router all wiped out, there is already a surge protector on the outlet so i am thinking it came through the coax. the dlink wireless still worked but when i plug it into the modem, the modem won't recognize it is connected, when i plug the pc directly in the modem, the light comes on, so i ordered a new dlink router and got a new modem, and tried plugging it in again and still modem won't recognize it, just wanted to hear any suggestions, i never seen it go past the modem
that happened once before but only took out the modem.

You can buy surge protectors with ADSL and coax input in almost any electronics store. Maybe your surge protector just was not equiped for a surge like that (cheap ones...). There is a max. surge mentioned on the packaging usually. But there's no way of predicting which one will hold (depends on the unpredictable input ::) )
