Title: DCS-950 image blowout

So, I just purchased this DCS-950 on eBay.
Sitting inside my house, displaying pictures in a room with normal lighting, it works fine.
I point this camera outside my window to display a street scene, and the image is blown out... Is this camera's CCD damaged? Is there anything I can do besides giving this thing sunglasses to get it to work?

Because this is a Consumer camera and is meant for indoor and indoor lighting, it does not have all the bells and whistles that our business products have that allow them to adjust in extreme lighting. Your only option is the following.

1. Raise the camera up higher.
2. Tilt the head downward some.

This will remove some of the direct sun to sensor contact and should improve video quality. Also windows give terrible reflection which can be hard to adjust to.

Thanks for the answer, but unfortunately, this doesn't explain why a DCS-900 camera in the *EXACT* same place shows a clear image.
I think that the CCD on the DCS-950 is damaged when you compare the same image to the DCS-900:

I'll ask the obvious...is the nightshot turned off? You can't leave that one during the day. I had 4 (now only 3 after a firmware update fried one... >:( ) and I use all of them to look outside on my property.

Yeah, in the original image, nightshot is off... I tried it both ways, off and on, and there is no difference in the image quality. It works fine indoors though, so I've relegated the 950 to indoors and my 900 to outdoors.

I have the same problem with a DCS-920

The image only shows yellow and green dots.

How can i fix it?

The reason the DSM-900 is able to display a better image outdoors may be due to the fact that the DCS-900 is 2.5Lux @ F1.4 and the DCS-950 has a 0.5 Lux @ F1.4 which is much better for low light environments. The DCS-920 has a 1.0Lux @ F1.9
