Title: Network Filter, MAC adress.
Post by: rilleking on August 14, 2009, 01:19:06 AM
I have a DIR 855 that I have som some problems with securiting with MAC adresses.
The DIR 855 is connected to a CISCO ASA 5505, on the LAN port. My internet connection is on the CISCO and it´s a DHCP server. All I want from the DIR 855 is to act like a wireless AP, secured only with a MAC adress list.
I have turned of the DHCP and UPnP on the DIR 855, just like the manual says. I´ve also give my DIR 855 a new ip adress, matching the CISCO unit. The ip of my cisco is 192.168.26.254 and my DIR 855 have 192.168.26.95.
Everything is working fine when I´m using the router without MAC adress security. My IP on my wireless computer is 192.168.26.5, and I get full access to the network and internet. But when I turn it on, I get no wireless access to the network and I´m getting an autoconfigured IP adress thats 169.254.98.16.

I´ve checked the MAC adress list under "Network filter" in the DIR 855:s bios a hundred times (well maybe just 10 times...) and it´s the same numbers thats on my computer. I´ve also tryied adding 2 other computers and I get the same problem...
Anyone got an idea on how I can solve this problem? For the records, my old router worked just fine with the MAC adress security, but the thunderlightnings killed it for me  :-\

Have you entered by the local and remote clients' MAC addresses into the filter list?
