I noticed another thread on this topic, but it appears to be locked due to no activity in the past 4 years.
I have had my DIR-868L router for over 4 years and never had any issues with it until this past weekend when the router needed to be rebooted about every 12 hours. Most wifi devices stayed connected to the router, but no internet. My AppleTV which is hard wired also had no internet. After a reboot everything would get back to normal for the next 6-12 hours and now I am having to reboot 2 - 4 times a day.
I was running Firmware 1.09 until this issue first started. I noticed then that 1.12 had been released and updated to 1.12 but the connectivity/reboot issues haven't changed. I have not reset to factory settings yet.
Internet is from Comcast/Xfinity and I have a Motorola Surfboard 6141, which I have also used for the past 4+ years with the DIR-868L without any issues so far.
The 2.4 network is set to Mixed 802.11n & 802.11g, Channel Width 20 MHz & Channel 6.
The 5.0 network is set to Mixed 802.11ac & 802.11n, Channel Width 20/40/80 MHz.
Security is set to WPA/WPA2.
It may also be worth mentioning that I have assigned IP addresses on the router for majority of the devices that connect to the router on a regular basis and I have not added any new devices over the past 6 weeks at least.
I am wondering if the router may be reaching its end of life? Any suggestions that would help solve the connectivity/reboot issues are welcome. Thanks in advance.

- What region are you located?
- Was a Factory Reset performed before and after any firmware updates then set up from scratch?

Try channel 1 or 11 and set Auto 20/40Mhz channel width on 2.4Ghz.
Router Placement
Forum User - "Well I feel really dumb. After moving the router away from other electronic devices my speeds are back to normal. Just a heads up for anyone experiencing slow speeds, you might want to move it away from other electronics and see if that helps."
3-6' feet minimum safe distance between devices.
Placement on main level floor and central in the building and WELL ventilated is preferred. Not in basements or closets as building materials, or near by electronics devices could interfere or hinder good signal propagation.

Have you added more devices or increased the traffic?
If you check the log activity, are you seeing a lot of incoming traffic?
Is the router running hot/warmer than normal?

I have not added any new devices in over 6 weeks.
I checked the log and didn't notice anything abnormal.
The router temperature seems normal, like it has always been.

I'm located in Texas.
No, a Factory reset has not been performed since the issue began, nor before or after I upgraded the firmware.
There are a pair of 6.0 DECT cordless phones, but those phones have been around the house for over a year without any issues.
There are two other D-link routers being used as access points, but both are at least 20 ft away from the DIR-868L and have also been in operation at their current locations without any issues for over 2 years.
I shall try changing the channels and channel width as you have mentioned.

If you have other wireless APs, Be sure they are on different channels from the 868L. I've done the same here in my house. I set the 868L for 11 and 36, The other APs, set for 2.4Ghz 6 and 1 and 5Ghz channels 149 and 161 and so on.
You can also try setting the output power from High to Medium and test. Might do that with your other APs to shorten the broadcast foot print some.

Try what Furry mentioned. I would then try a reset (I know a pain) and see if the problem persists. Generally when a router slows up and needs a reboot to recover, it is getting overloaded with traffic, power issue, or overheating. If nothing has changed in the environment, then the router may be ready for retirement unfortunately.

I have made changes suggested above and no luck. I have had to restart the router a couple of times since I made the changes (around 7:30 pm last night). Thankfully, I am able to remotely restart the router when needed.
I will try a full factory reset soon. Hopefully that will help. As I had mentioned before, I am currently running firmware version 1.12 and was on 1.09 when the issue started. Is there a more stable version that you would recommend I try?

yes definitely give a reset a try.
1.12B04 seems to be the most stable. Haven't heard of many issues with it.

I would turn of as many devices as you can and disconnect anything from the router as you can and leave maybe one or two devices running. See if you notice anything.
I've been using the v1.12 on mine. Haven't noticed anything. One thing you could try as well. Take one of the other routers and use it as a main host router, then take your 868L and change it over to a wired LAN AP. See if the problem continues in AP mode or not.
