Not sure if its rebooting but it is off line for a minute or so.
Something similar used to happen with an old I think HTC Android phone. When the router was set for Wi-Fi G only everything was fine but with N it would reset every so often.
It had been fine for a long time now with my Pixel XL and the Samsung Tab S T800. Then after a number of updates were installed on the T800 (it had been off for a time and there were many app updates) it now just keeps reconnecting with the DIR-655 over and over.
I then noticed that the DIR-655 was also inaccessible at the time and my PC has no internet. So it’s rebooting or resetting over and over. It’s totally repeatable if Wi-Fi on the T800 is on its doing it.
I was going to show the version and firmware but forgot:
Hardware Version: A4
Firmware Version: 1.37NA
US
I tried just B and just G.
WPA-Personal. WPA2/AES Only
Just my Pixel XL and the Samsung Tab S T800.
I can try the other options later:
If you have any of these options, Try turning OFF or ON Short GI, WLAN Partition, Extra Wireless Protection and HT 20/40 Co-existence if you have it. Also testing with HT20/40Mhz Co-existence enabled will impact results as well. I prefer to use this option OFF. Recommended settings are default. Under Advanced/Advanced Wireless.
Maybe the T800 Wi-Fi died after the updates but it seems like it's a new Wi-Fi setting from Samsung that the DIR-655 don't like.
Again everything works as it did if the T800 Wi-Fi is off.

- Link>What Firmware (http://forums.dlink.com/index.php?topic=47512.0) version is currently loaded? Found on the routers web page under status.
- What region are you located?
- What wireless modes are you using?
- 2.4Ghz Routers only: Try single mode G or N or mixed G and N?
- Channel Width set for Auto 20/40Mhz or try 20Mhz only.
- Try setting a manual Channel (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wireless_channels) to a open or unused channel. 1, 6 or 11. 11 for single mode N if the channel is clear.
- What security mode are you using? Preferred security is WPA-Personal. WPA2/AES Only. Some WiFi adapters don't support AES (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Advanced_Encryption_Standard), so you might want to try TPIK (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Temporal_Key_Integrity_Protocol) only or Auto TPIK and AES.
- What wireless devices do you have connected?
- Ensure any devices with WiFi adapter drivers are updated.
- Any 2.4Ghz or 5Ghz cordless house phones or WiFi APs near by that maybe causing interferences?
- Any other WiFi routers in the area that maybe causing interferences? Link> Use a WiFi Scanner (http://forums.dlink.com/index.php?topic=48327.0) to find out. How many?
- If you have any of these options, Try turning OFF or ON Short GI (http://www.smallnetbuilder.com/wireless/wireless-features/30969-what-do-80211ns-optional-features-mean-for-you), WLAN Partition, Extra Wireless Protection and HT 20/40 Co-existence if you have it. Also testing with HT20/40Mhz Co-existence enabled will impact results as well. I prefer to use this option OFF. Recommended settings are default. Under Advanced/Advanced Wireless.

The issue is still there with security mode disabled.
Tried B, G and N only.
Tried theses but have no idea if there is some random combo that will work.
Try turning OFF or ON Short GI, WLAN Partition, Extra Wireless Protection
I can’t find these settings:
Channel Width set for Auto 20/40Mhz or try 20Mhz only.
HT 20/40 Co-existence if you have it
I don’t know why things changed? All was working until the Samsung Tab S was updated.
It looks like they have a history of breaking routers. The last update for the DIR655 had an update to fix connections with Samsung devices.
I guess I finally have to get a new router. :(
I did take the Samsung Tab S to the office and it seemed to be ok on the wifi there.

This is so hard to follow. I found the channel width but there are only two settings and looking at the Wi-Fi analyzer it’s never used 40 MHz. All that said, it seems to be more stable with the 20 MHz setting.

ChannelWidth will be under Setup/Wireless/Manual
HT20/40 will be under Advanced/Advanced Wireless
I presume it had been working and then the tablet was updated, possible something happened on the Tablet side thats made it incompatible with this older router. :-\ If the Tablet isn't connecting to a OPEN wifi unsecure network, then something isn't working right between the tablet and the router...
Well, you could get a DAP or a newer class DIR router and turn into an AP and connect it to the 655 if you like to keep using the 655 has your main host router. I sometimes use a older DIR series router and connect up a AC class router to use it's wifi. Turn off the 655s wireless.
