I have an old D-Link switch, DGS-2205, that stops working suddenly. I check the Limited Lifetime Warranty file on its support page. It states "Hardware: For as long as the original customer/end user owns the product, or five (5) years after product discontinuance, whichever occurs first."
I opened a case to RMA this switch. The support person repeatedly says "the free support for this product has ended on 2/5/2017. You may visit support.dlink.com or contact Premium Support hotline number 888 814 2882 for further assistance." and refuses to provide further information.
I am wondering how do I find out if this switch is still under warranty? Do I have to use the Premium Support hotline to get RMA?

Has the switch been tried in a different location with a different router and cabling?
I recommend that you phone contact your regional D-Link support office and ask for help and information regarding this. We find that phone contact has better immediate results over using email. USA support site offers 24/7 chat support for USA regional customers.
Let us know how it goes please.

Correct. This switch was discontinued Feb 2012. The last day of (free) support ended on 2/5/2017 as stated on the support site. http://support.dlink.com/ProductInfo.aspx?m=dgs-2205 (http://support.dlink.com/ProductInfo.aspx?m=dgs-2205)
Unfortunately you will need to call the premium support line for continued support on this product.
