Title: MAGICJACK
Post by: cjmedina on August 16, 2009, 07:03:03 AM
I'm going to buy this device for a second land line for the house.

Does anybody know if I can use this device off the USB port of the DNS-323....I also have the D-LINK DIR-655 Router?

The site says it works with Windows and Intel-MACs.
So it won't work with a NAS with embedded Linux.

Also the DNS does only support printers with its USB port.

The USB port is used for network printing only currently.

hey cj,

i also have the magicjack and it works great, you will be happy with it ..

i do wish you could use it with the NAS, i wonder if there is a hack or if dlink is planning on letting the usb port be used for any accessory

Just out of curiosity, what would be the purpose of that?

The Magicjack doesn't work as a standalone device.  It requires that you have a computer on 24/7 running the MagicJack software to run it.

Being able to get that software on the NAS would mean not having to have some other PC on all day.
