using speedtest.net, I was getting 0.33MBPS DL on average and my subscription is rated for 10. Saw a suggestion on dslreports.com to lower the speed of the WAN port to 10 instead of "auto" and I was now averaging 8.5MBPS DL - but the router would drop internet for wireless AND wired connections after about 3 minutes.
I tried firmwares 1.3, 1.6, and 1.9 all with factory defaults.
I tried with wireless disabled
I tried with WAN port speed set to "auto", "100" and "10"
----at "auto" - very slow DLs but no loss of connection
----at "100" - same
----at "10" - download speeds are normal, but loss of connection after 2 to 5 mins of downloading
I tried with DNS Relay disabled
I tried with all logging disabled
I tried a direct link to the modem and not using the router at all - all problems gone.
Ive tried just about everything I can think of and this router is either going to offer me less-than-dialup download speeds, or fast downloads and a forced reboot of the router every 3 minutes.
is the router just broken?
addendum: I also tried lowering the network speed of my PC NIC to 10 Half Duplex - this also did not work.

admins:
why do you have time to delete threads letting folks know what router i ultimately purchased, but you dont have time to help me figure out what is going on with my 4300?
-
Disable the Gamefuel and see if this effects traffic.
Also you may simply have a compatibility issue with your modem and our router. Since we're no longer making firmware for that unit , if it is a compatiblity issue, there's very little that can be done. You mentioned that you bought another router so I did not respond.

actually you did respond by deleting that thread altogether. I did not intent to violate any rules and thought I was simply passing along information.
Is there a known imcompatability between th DGL-4300 and the Motorolla SB1500? I bought them at the same time (the very day the 4300 was issued, actually) and had not had any problems until recently.
I had upgraded to 1.9 and had to reconfig - and something wasn't working. Tried rolling back to 1.6 but it was never the same again after flashing up to 1.9
I have 1.9 at all factory defaults with gamefuel off as well as the settings listed above.

admin, why have you stopped making firmware for that router. in my opnion it was the best, I dont need "N". this is sad to hear, I was going to buy another one but if you anser is you dont support firmware i=on it anymore then that means that we are stuck with the existing problems.. not good..
