Title: Covr1203 connection drop issues
Post by: AnasMalas on February 09, 2020, 12:50:58 AM
Hello!
First post here. I have been trying to find a solution for my problem of bad internet. I am using the covr 1203 system on FW 1.08. First, some general info:

- Location: UAE
- ISP and connection type: Etisalat, Fiber connection with PPPOE and VLAN (I dont know the specifics, but I know I had to try every VLAN port from 0 to 40 for it to work)
- Original FW: 1.05
- Did I reset the system after getting 1.08? No, my parents have had enough with me for now.
- House type: single floor apartment in a dense skyscraper. House is 250 m^2 or 2700 ft^2, but is long and rectangular with lots of concrete walls
- Backhaul: Using just one B node via ethernet. With just the two, the entire house gets good enough coverage except for one room. I placed the third point in that room with line of sight to the ethernet connected B point, and it kept flashing orange til it changed to flashing white (Signal strength high on Samsung Note 9 at the third covr point before it was turned on. distance is no more than 20 or 30 meters with line of sight). Currently the third node is off

Ultimate problem I am trying to solve: Internet randomly drops on some devices, either while really near to node A or node B with no reason to switch over. 6 devices connected in total, 1 printer, 2 laptops, and 3 phones. Nothing via ethernet and no switch is used. During the drop internet signal is still very good, but internet reminds me of dial up on most apps.

During my tries to diagnose, I found that the system is on a rather congested band, with 4 other APs on there other than the backhaul hidden network (which is still activated even though im only using ethernet backhaul) and the main ones.

Any ideas? what should I do to solve this problem? Are there any logs which I can post that would help?

Try setting the power level on the A point from High to Medium if your in a wifi congested area.

Hello Furry,
The SSID name is unique, but this is the covr 1203 we are talking about, cant have a separate 5G SSID, change bands, or play with power settings.
There are about 6-15 other wifi routers that we see in our house, all from our neighbors of course

The cover systems do no offer SSID separation between 2.4 and 5G.

Possible you maybe in a wifi congested area.

There is newer FW available: v1.08
