Title: DIR-882 stuck on orange power light only
Post by: chriscic on April 13, 2020, 10:49:28 AM
I can get it to blinking orange light for attempted firmware recovery, but I'm unable to access it via 192.168.0.1 when I do so (switched PC to fixed IP address as instructions say).

Think this unit is bricked (I bought it used) but thought I'd see if anyone in the community has any suggestions.

Thanks much!

You can try a different power supply to be sure. I doubt it's the power supply though.
Ya if you set static IP on the PC and web browser fails to open the recovery page, it's bad.

Thank you!

Yep probably just dead.  Not sure where to get another power supply to try. I'll look through my personal "city of lost power supplies" box and see if anything is a fit.  You never know.

Turns out they sent the wrong power supply.  It's 12V and 0.5amps, when back of the unit says 12V, 2.5 amps!

I couldn’t find a perfectly matching power supply, but did find one that’s 12V and 3.0 amps for now.

So I got into recovery mode and flashed with the latest firmware.  However, it's asking me for the Admin password.  Is there a default I should use?

I also tried installing via the app but it's still asking me for a login I don't have. I did a Google search and it says use admin but that doesn't work.

EDIT: Turns out after flashing the firmware I had to reset it again. Then was able to configure it and up and running!

Awesome, glad the power supply was the problem. Makes me wonder where the original PS is. LOL.

Glad it's up and running. Enjoy.  ;)
