B1 rev - When I uncheck the DNS relay do I have to manually enter the DNS servers on the SETUP - INTERNET Tab???
I tried with no entry but it seemed sluggish, then I entered the DNS numbers manually and its much quicker. Is this what you are supposed to do when you uncheck the DNS relay??
Thanks

I did not enter the DNS entries manually when I disabled DNS Relay. The router locked up the first time I tried to access it after rebooting both the router and computer, and it was slow (30 seconds?) to make the initial internet connection after I power-cycled the locked-up router, but once it connected it has been operating normally for the past 2 days. Still need a few more days before I will become optimistic, but so far it has been stable.
As background, my ISP is Comcast Cable.

I can only speak for HW:B1, firmware 2.02NA, Dir-825.
No.
Disabling "DNS Relay" allows the DNS entries from your cable-modem to "pass-through" to your clients. With "DNS Relay" disabled, you should see a couple of IP addresses external to your network on your clients. With "DNS Relay" enabled, the client DNS says "192.168.0.1".
Note: If you disable "DNS Relay", but still have clients with DNS of "192.168.0.1", on Setup/Network (on router), go to bottom of the page and revoke the applicable client IPs. When they re-connect, they should have "real" DNS addresses.

In the STATUS - WIRELESS page of the router I see the clients with IP address and in the
SETUP - NETWORK page clients are listed at the bottom, I think I have it now please confirm.
Where exactly can I see if the clients have the DNS of 192.168.0.1? On the individual machines
with an ipconfig /all command or on the router?????
Also can I set up DHCP reservation if needed without interfering with the DNS option?
Thanks

I can't recall which screen has the wireless revoke ability. I was using hard-wired at the time. I know Setup/Network has the hard-wired ones. Just check both places for the revoke step.
To confirm that the clients have the right DNS, on the client itself (PC, laptop, etc.), open a command-window (run/cmd) and do "ipconfig/all".
I created a DHCP reservation last night, and would assume it handles "DNS Relay" flag properly, but I didn't check DNS on my laptop (thanks for reminding me!).
