A D-Link account is not required to set up your devices using the app. However, having one will make most of the features of your devices available to you. The app requires a D-Link account to enable the third-party services like the Google Assistant, Alexa, and D-Link defend (D-Fend).
Note: you can create a D-Link account with the D-Link Wi-Fi app on a phone or tablet.
