Title: Unexpected MAC in MAC table in D-Link DGS-1210-10P
Post by: Olivia_Iron on February 17, 2021, 11:56:27 AM
Hi!

I used 2 switches D-Link DGS-1210-10P.
I noted down their MAC addresses displayed in web interface under Device information section. They were b8-a3-86-XX-YY-ZZ alike.
I changed the IP of the switches to match my LAN scope.
I connected the 2 switches and test some ping between PCs across the two switches. Everything worked fine, but the Dynamic Forwarding Table showed MACs that didn't  belong to any of the switches nor the PCs involved in pings.

In fact one of the MAC was cc-b2-55-II-JJ-KK. I think it does not make any sense, but it happened!
Could anybody shed some light on this issue?

Thank you very much for your help.

I can't explain why, but I assure you it happened.

I have to correct my previous post. The unidentified MAC does not have a different beginning, only a different end.

Ok, I have found a pattern:

In the dynamic forwarding table there are two entries for the same switch:

Does it make sense?
