Title: Firmware 1.16b03 available now
Post by: Puffnstuff on August 28, 2009, 08:10:19 AM
So many people have asked me for this that I've uploaded it to my website and created a link so anybody who wishes to dl it can do so whenever they get ready.  If you want it then click on the shortcut and get it. ;D http://home.comcast.net/~clothespin/d-link/dgl4500_firmware_116b03_beta.rar

If the link doesn't work please let me know so I can adjust it.  I'm going by the guidance that comcast provided me for sharing files posted to my personal web space so I can't try the link from my pc as it will generate a different page than if someone else tries it since it's my account and my ip.

Ok thanks for the feedback and I'll check on it.  I set the file to public but comcast web file posting sucks however please try the link again and tell me if you still cannot access it.

Edit: I tried it and I can't access it either.  If you want the fw just pm me with your email address and I'll sent it to you.

http://rapidshare.com/files/272851185/dgl4500_firmware_116b03_beta.rar and thanks for reminding me of fileshare.  Unfortunately once you pass the 1.2x threshold you cannot roll back your firmware.  Its the same with 1.02 and once you pass that point you cannot go back.  Supposively it has to do with cpu level programming but others say its with the licensing and I tend to agree. I've never had a device that you couldn't roll back the firmware on after an update until this router.

I would of really have liked to of tried out the 1.16 beta 3 but my A2 came with the 1.21NA preloaded.  ):  From what I was told on Wednesday of this week by the guy dealing with my unhappy situation.  There should be some sort of solution to all of the issues I've been having coming out next Wednesday.  Personally, I think the guy doesn't know what he's talking about but I have warned him that I'm at the end of my patience.  If I don't get a fix before I leave on vacation on Sunday September 6th 2009, I'll be suing D-Link in small claims court once I return to get my refund.

I hope they do issue new fw to resolve the issues because I will take the a1 out of its box and flash it.  I will not flash the a2 until I know for sure that the new fw really works long term.  Since 1.16b3 works well for me hard wired I might not do it at all unless I have wireless issues down the road.

FYI ...   http://drop.io   is a quick and easy way to share files.  Free up to 100mb.

The firmwares seem to work differently with different revisions.  Since I'm stuck at the 1.20 at a mininum on my A2.  The best firmware out of the 1.20, 1.21 beta 2, and the 1.21NA is the 1.20 for my particular unit.  I still have lots of wireless errors (as I do with the other 2 firmware) but the 1.20 is the only one that doesn't forcefully kick my wireless printer, notebook, and Wii off of the network when under heavy load.  Ironically, the trade off is the odd bt of packet loss on wired during large file transfers through the network.  I am so sick and tired of trying to make this piece of crap router work.  They better have that fix all fix I was told was coming by Wednesday or I'm just going to send this one back to D-Link and start my small claims lawsuit when I return from my holidays.

It's end of the Wednesday alright. Still nothing?

That's exactly right!  So... I'll be paying D-Link a very nasty phone call first thing in the morning.

Edit:  I got a call back today and was told that it's going to at least take a month (minimum) to ever start resolving issues.  The engineers have apparently recreated some (not too sure which ones) issues in their lab and as stated by the mods, D-Link is willing to start sending out engineers to troubleshoot other issues they haven't been able to recreate in their labs.  So...  Any of us will honestly be lucky if we even see a fix for a slight few of these issues before 2010.

The fact that they released tainted fw across multiple lines should tell us something about how they test before they release.
