Title: 2.4 GHz ax stopped working with 1.10 firmware update
Post by: perrstep on April 23, 2021, 05:37:59 PM
Hi,

With the 1.10 automatic firmware update, clients are unable to connect to 2.4 GHz ax.  I have three windows laptops at home that suffered the same problem.  I went to device manager to set the client cards' 802.11n/ac/ax setting to ac mode and the connection issue was fixed, but at the cost of lower speeds.

I reverted the firmware to 1.04 and the issue was fixed.

I'd prefer to stay up to date with firmware versions but the new version seems broken.

Any help appreciated.
Thanks.

I had two clients not want to connect, did a factory reset after the upgrade and all client connect just fine.

Hi,

No I haven't performed any factory resets.  I only let the automatic update happen. Let me perform that sequence of operations.

Thank you.

Let us know if the reset fixes this.

Hello again,

The factory reset did seem to fix the connectivity issues.  However, my setup for wifi was No Smart Connect / Hidden / WPA 2-3.  It seems that as soon as I set the wifi to hidden, or WPA 2/3, the windows clients at my house can't connect anymore.  Those settings were working in firmware 1.04.  For now I'll stick to No Smart Connect / Visible / WPA 2.  I have the feeling that my older setup (Invisible / WPA 2-3) immediately broke connectivity when firmware 1.10 got auto-installed.

Could somebody test No Smart Connect / Hidden / WPA 2-3 (instead of 2 only) too?

Thanks!

There has been a ticket sent to the engineers on this issue but they are having a hard time replicating it.

This firmware you HAVE to reset it since there were feature changes that will not take effect until resetting. It is rare to require a reset after a firmware upgrade but this one needs it.

Also, when resetting, you will need to Enable DFS to get 160MHz.

What wireless adapters are having the issue? And driver version? (engineers will ask).

This is the amazon link to two of the laptop cards that I upgraded.  Intel AX200.  They are on the latest driver updated by the "Intel Driver and Support Assistant":

And I have another Lenovo laptop that has a "Intel(R) Wi-Fi 6 AX201 160 MHz" version of the same card that shows up as being on Intel driver version 22.0.1.1 from september 29, 2020.

Intel is up to a 22.4 driver:

I am using this on a laptop and desktop that have Intel adapters.
