I've looked through the forum, so ignore this post if this has already been addressed.
After loading on the latest August FW release, some files on the DNS-323 have listed permissions as owner "nobody" and no other use can access these files. I have googled for a solution but have yet to find a fix. Has anyone else noticed this bizarre occurrence?

i haven't seen this before but assuming you are running windows xp(i am sure vista would work as well) you can boot into safe mode and change the ownership and permissions in there so they are at least readable ...

klein,
I'm running the 64-bit Windows 7 RC and don't have a PC near by with XP. I don't believe this is an issue with Windows permissions since the error prompt I get makes reference to UNIX permissions and owner being "Nobody".

So no one else has come across files that are unable to open due to "Nobody" being the owner and permissions suddenly being denied for all other users? I google the symptoms and see others have encountered this but of course, no solution was provided...

Have you installed any Software via fun_plug or Telnet access enabled?

megakeule,
Thanks for your reply. No, this is just a stock configuration with all services turned off.

So no one else has come across this bizarre situation? I assume that a fix could involve installing fun_plug and telneting into the box and changing permissoins/owners, but what could have caused this in the first place? This box is used as a file server for a small office and no one has admin rights besides me. Any thoughts on this would be appreciated.

There have been other posts here about that same issue.. I've been thru that issue with both versions of 1.08, what seems to help is to default the DNS to factory settings, that should clear up all the permissions on files.

Well, reset to default seems to work for some users, but not for all. I still have folders and files with wrong permissions. :(
