Title: DCS-5020L can access locally but not remotely

I have a DCS-5020L camera. I can access it locally at home with my smartphone and pc, I add the page in Internet Explorer compatibility mode. When using the app remote on my phone, my camera shows with a red x with the only option to upgrade the firmware. Is this necessary to allow it to be accessed remotely?
