I've been trying to find some kind of setting in UI that will recover DNS-321 from power failure.
Is there are such feature?
If not, is there are plans on releasing it?

the new beta code addresses that.
4. Support Auto Power Recovery.
...
23. Enables Auto Power Recovery by auto detection without GUI intervention.

Yeah, I noticed some beta firmware is available. I did install 1.03 b12.
Build 06 states:
...............

...............

So if I understand correctly, I don't need to do anything in GUI in order to turn this feature on. I did a simple test by starting up NAS and unplugging power from outlet and plugging back in. It didn't start up on it's own.
Can anyone confirm that this feature works?
-
Well, there is no entry anywhere on the GUI to enable/disable that feature, so I'm not entirely what it's supposed to do. I would think that not everyone wants the unit to wake up after a power interruption.
-
glad you tested it, i didn't want to chance data loss.
i would think that a NAS box would be shoved off in a dark corner somewhere and the user would expect it to be available whenever they wanted data off it. personally, my first thought after power is restored isn't "welp, better go turn on the nas!" it's more like "about time. great, now i've gotta reset the clocks on the stove, microwave, radio, etc."

I've tried once again, and power loss recovery worked ;D
In my first test I didn't have any drives in NAS, maybe thats why it didn't recover.
So for those who's interested, it does work the same way your PC would work. It recovers to a previous state before power failure.

ok, now i'm starting to feel better about the nas.
now if i can just get these permissions worked out, i'll be happy!

What's the magic???

I have not been able to get my DNS-321 to turn on after a power failure without a minor and simple hardware mod. Well, minor and simple to me.
Here is the link. Post any questions on that link please, that way it stays with the topic. Please read the entire thread, it's not that long, mostly pictures.
