Title: Issues connecting to PC (WinXP) All other devices connect though...
Post by: FullSwingActor on September 05, 2009, 12:58:02 AM
Ok...
Like most people, I too went for the DIR-825 (Ver. B1, FW 2.02NA). I had the Linksys WRT54G prevously, and had no issues with the PC whatsoever.

Now I get the DIR-825, do the update to 2.02, and it can 'find' it... but it won't get past 'authenticating'.

Currently connected to the router with no issues are iMac G5 (WAN) and wirelessly a 12" Powerbook G4 and iPhone 3Gs. No issues whatsoever with the Apple products, but of all things the PC.

I've got the two bands (2.4 and 5) separated with different network names. (2.4Ghz = mixed G&B, 2.462 Ghz Ch. 11)(5Ghz = N&A, 5.2 Ghz Ch. 40). I currently have nothing that operates that is N rated, but I was buying for the future with this bad boy.

I was on the phone for 1 hour 15 minutes with 'tech support', but all they could tell me was it was' an issue with my computer'. Really??? I had no issues before. Can some please help or at least explain some ideas they have on this.

Thanks,

Craig

I assume you are having trouble with the PC using wireless (not hard-wired).

Have you tried another wireless network adapter, or upgrading the driver for your current one?

Check and make sure that any anti-virus / firewall software is told to trust the IP address AND the wireless SSID of the wireless router.

I was using Norton 360 / Internet Security and these needed to be explicitly told to trust both my router's IP address (LAN gateway address) and the wireless network name (aka SSID.)

Try do disable you wi-fi protection on your router. Try to set you channel width to 20/40Mhz. Go to your wireless adapters properties (Non working) then remove all preferred networks after that try to scan for available networks again then connect to your network. That should solve it.
