Title: large file transfer causes wireless lockup
Post by: subgenius13 on September 06, 2009, 03:07:10 PM
Hi all, I browsed the entries to see if anyone reported the issues that I have been having, and can't seem to make an exact connection. So here it goes:

Router Info
DIR-615 Rev c1
Firmware 3.11NA
Wireless mode N+G mixed
WPA encryption
1 Wireless G laptop
2 Wireless N laptops
2 Media extenders (xbox360 and PS3) Bridged over a Linksys WGA600N

The issue seems to be around streaming large files from a wireless to a wired client (or vice/versa) on my network. I don't have any issues streaming HD netflix over the WAN to my XBOX360 or a laptop. When I try to stream HD video from my wired desktop to one of my extenders, or if I try to back up one of my laptops over the wire to the wired desktop, my wireless connection dies on the client device. Any other wireless client stays connected, but new DHCP requests fail. A reboot fixes this issues until I try to copy a large amount of data over the network again. What burns me is that I did away with my WRT160n rev2 (Sucker) that had WAN related problems for this one that seems to have LAN related problems. Anyone have insight or a similar experience?

Thanks!

My DIR-615 Rev D1 has the same problem!
Each time I try to copy large files, the router would freeze up and all wireless connections are dropped...

The only solution is to reboot the router, but doesn't always work the first time, it takes several retries to reset it.

File transfer has nothing to do with it. It's the probematic firmware. Try upgrading to 3.12 . It never worked for me but may for you.
