I notice that the lights for my computers continue to flash (indicating transmission or activity) even when the computers are powered completely down. This does not seem to occur with my laptop, only my desktop.
Why is this? Is it normal?
Is there a way to turn the router off (rather than having to unplug it) when away for extended time?

Which activity lights are blinking -- the individual LAN ports, the wi-fi, or the WAN ?
Are the computers linked to the wired/LAN ports or are they connected wirelessly/wi-fi ? I think you can set a schedule for the wi-fi (though I might be confusing this feature with my other D-Link, the 1522 Bridge).
