Title: Disconnects?
Post by: Yangster on September 11, 2009, 11:25:15 AM
I just got it to work and now I think I'm getting disconnects every 15-ish minutes. I don't think they're full on disconnects, but I use a voice program called Ventrilo and I would just be surfing on the net and I would hear "disconnected from server". That rarely happened with my old router, but now I'm getting it every few minutes.

The reason I say I don't think it's a full disconnect is because I have AIM open and it doesn't say anything about losing connection or reconnecting (at least there haven't been any popups saying so), I'm pretty sure I could still access the web with my browser, and I don't have any popups from Windows saying that I can't detect a network or w.e.

I've tried enabling and disabling QOS. I have no idea what DNS is so I don't use it. I haven't touched any of the port forwarding stuff and filters. I don't think I messed with the firewall except to enable anti-spoof checking. I have AT&T DSL with a Dynamic setup with the comp plugged directly to the router.

Several other forums posts seem to indicate that with set the WAN port to a "speed" (10 or 100) instead of leave it to "Auto."

Also, turn off "DNS Relay" appear to help to fix this.

Sorry what does WAN do? And is it alright if I set it to 1000 instead?

And I can't find the "DNS Relay", is it under Advanced?

Alright I was watching a demo with my friend and I msged him everytime I lagged out. First one was at 12:26, last one was at 1:06. I msged him twice in between and one was at 12:56. I lag out EVERY ten minutes on the dot. This is freaking ******ed. What setting do I have to change? -_-

Well apparently it was the anti-spoof checking. Turned that off and I haven't disconnected yet.
