Title: Large External USB Device's NOT Recognized by Shareport
Post by: Chewbacca on September 12, 2009, 02:45:50 PM
Just purchased the dir-825 with shareport.

Latest firmware and latest utliity are in place.

Found out the hard way that shareport utility does NOT support mass storage devices, IE Maxtor One Touch II 300GB external drives.

The current version of the utility only supports USB flash drives...but nowhere on D-Link's site does it state that, in fact it states USB drives.

I was advised they are working on a new version of Shareport that will support large size external hard drives but no ETA.

Anyone out there have this device and a large device and it's working?

Chewey,

In the future, when commenting on or asking about the DIR-825 you'll get more accurate answers if you include your model.  There is an 825A and an 825B.  They use different firmware.

Shareport has had 'issues' all along but especially the latest version that works with the last several firmware updates for the A model (1.10, 1.11, 1.12) and I believe the same issues exist for the B model.

Be sure and read all the threads that deal with whatever model you have.  There are good things and there are not so good things you'll want to know about.

Cheers
