Title: Download Monitor Help
Post by: Wazza McG on September 14, 2009, 06:51:32 PM
Hi,
I have a D-Link wireless router (DIR 655) and I am allowed 30gig of download at fast broadband and then throttled to 256kbps after the 30gig is used up (Optus Fusion Plus - Australia).  Also, I have 3 children with laptops that use the wireless network.

What I would like to know is how much data each child is downloading / uploading (Mb).  I don’t need to know what they are downloading – just how much each child downloads (Mb) on their IP address.

I believe one of the kids is using far too much of our allotment at fast broadband speed then the rest of the family has to put up with the slow speed when it runs out.

Is there an online manual that may assist me or a software program that will do it simply for me.  Thanks.

Please Help.
Regards,
Warren

sounds like you have bigger issues that how much data your kids are downloading....  No disrespect intended, but who controls the computing environment ?  parents or kids ?  I set my router to shut my kids out of internet access after certain times my wife and I decided....if the kids complain, I cut it even more.

I dont think the DIR-655 is able to track this type of information in real-time and report to you....  There may be other software out there that you could install on your kids' computers and set it up to send an email to you evey so many hours or whatever....  I have never used anything like that, but I vaguely seem to recall it existing.
