Title: DIR-655 Connected to Smarthome SmartLinc
Post by: mikewmorgan on September 15, 2009, 07:34:04 AM
I have a Smarthome SmartLinc home automation device connected to my DIR-655 with a static IP and port forwarding.  I cannot connect to the SmartLinc unless one of the PC's on my home network is turned on.  Can anyone help with settings that will allow communication with the SmartLinc WITHOUT a PC being on?

That sounds awfully strange.  Have you tried letting the Smartlinc controller get it's IP address from DHCP and and then reserving it so it always has the same address?

No I haven't.  I'll try that tonight or tomorrow and see what happens.  I'll let you know.  Thanks.

I also have a Smarthome Smartlinc connected to a DIR-655 with Port Forwarding at a second home.  When I log in to my Smartlinc.Smarthome account from my primary home on my MAC it works perfectly, however when I attempt to log in from any other computer, it fails and I get an error saying that Explorer cannot display the webpage.

is there a setting on the DIR-655 that would make it only recognize my home computer through the Port Forwarding?

I have a PC laptop and when I bring that with me to the second home, it can log into the smartlinc account, but when the laptop is not at the location where the DIR-655 is, it won't let me log in.  Probably because it is not going through the Port Forwarding?

I'm hoping it is some security setting on the router that only recognizes a single computer?  but I can't imagine why that would be.
