Title: Internal wifi card recommendation
Post by: tommyp on September 15, 2009, 09:10:26 AM
Can anyone recommend an internal laptop wifi card (mini PCIe) that can achieve 300mbps on the 2.4Ghz band?  I currently have an Intel 4965, but that can only achieve 130mbps.

Unfortunately, no Intel Centrino Wifi cards (WiFi 4965 or 5300) appears to use well on the 2.4Ghz band.  You need a dual-band router.

Right, but the 625 is not a dual-band router.  If not an intel card, is there any other card that can get the full speed?  Is there an internal version of the the dlink pcmcia/expresscard/usb cards?

Did you notice which section this group belongs to???

The Rangebooster line offers 4 different adapters to connect to the router:

Two USB:  DWA-140 and DWA-142

One PCMCIA: DWA-642

You can also use any of the Gold adapters:

DWA-652 and DWA-643

Or use the USB  DWA-160.

Before spending any money did you try the 300Mbps solution in the "sticky section"?
