OK, I am a bad bad man. I have never upgraded the firmware on my DIR-655 A1 currently running Firmware 1.0. When I try to upgrade the firmware to 1.10 (or any for that matter) it tells me the file is corrupt or not for this router. I'm not dumb, I know how to download items. Do the firmware updates have to be done in order? And If so where can I find the firmware between 1.00 and 1.10.

Bad? Consider yourself lucky in avoiding all the firmware issues.
It appears all the firmware versions are still on D-Link's FTP site. Just change the file name on the firmware links on the support page to the version you want. For example:
1.01: ftp://ftp.dlink.com/Gateway/dir655/Firmware/dir655_firmware_101.bin (http://ftp://ftp.dlink.com/Gateway/dir655/Firmware/dir655_firmware_101.bin)
1.02: ftp://ftp.dlink.com/Gateway/dir655/Firmware/dir655_firmware_102.bin (http://ftp://ftp.dlink.com/Gateway/dir655/Firmware/dir655_firmware_102.bin)
1.03: ftp://ftp.dlink.com/Gateway/dir655/Firmware/dir655_firmware_103.bin (http://ftp://ftp.dlink.com/Gateway/dir655/Firmware/dir655_firmware_103.bin)
1.05: ftp://ftp.dlink.com/Gateway/dir655/Firmware/dir655_firmware_105.bin (http://ftp://ftp.dlink.com/Gateway/dir655/Firmware/dir655_firmware_105.bin)
According to this: http://text.broadbandreports.com/forum/r19665896-Census-on-Dir-655-new-fw-111 (http://text.broadbandreports.com/forum/r19665896-Census-on-Dir-655-new-fw-111) , 1.01 must be flashed before going to 1.02. Not sure whether 1.02 is needed before 1.03, but you can go from 1.03 to 1.10 or 1.11.
So, unless someone else says otherwise I'd do: 1.01 -> 1.02 -> 1.03 -> [stay with 1.03 or go to 1.05, 1.10, or 1.11]
I would SERIOUSLY consider NOT upgrading past 1.11, since you can't go back.
Once at 1.2x you can't go back to 1.0x or 1.1x. Same with 1.3x - you can't go back to 1.2x.
-
If its an A1 you should be able to go from 1.2x back down to 1.1x. Its just the newer models A4's that can't go below the 1.2 firmware.

Thanks for the FTP address....a little nervous about updating since I have had perfect connections since day 1
-
If youhave had a perfect connection since day 1, why update the firmware now?
As a rule most SysAdmins don't update firmware on there hardware unless there is a specific reason to do so. If it isn't broke, don't try and fix it.
