Title: E-mail Notifications over SSL?
Post by: webPragmatist on September 20, 2009, 11:21:40 PM
I use Sherweb and they require SSL and a specific port number for outgoing email. How can I do this with my notifications?

I have been searching high and low for an answer to this, you won't find one.  They will say: "you cannot use SSL to sign in to SMTP" so forget that, it is not supported by the device and it's firmware. They will say: "use Gmail!"  However many ISPs block SMTP traffic, so if you are one of the unlucky ones like me you cannot simply "use Gmail!".  I have looked high and low for another solution, like a free SMTP server that does not use SSL however because of SPAM I think they basically do not exist.
