Title: UPnP Media Server Add-on/Plugin for NAS
Post by: mediajunky500 on September 27, 2009, 09:50:42 AM
Has anyone seen or heard of a UPnp AV Server Add-on or Plugin for Network Storage devices?  Since the one offered by D-Link that is built in to the DNS-343 is weak (it doesn't recognize ID3 tags for MP3's) and D-Link won't recognize the problem or address it, I was wondering if any has heard of or is using an add-on / plugin.
My ultimate goal is to use the DNs-343 as a UPnP media server, and to be able to turn off the computer and still have a real Media Server for my DSM-520 Extender or PS3.  It would be nice if Playon built a plugin for NAS devices.

Thanks

Although it will void your warranty, you could try fun_plug'ging the device so as to install the functionality you are after.  Googling 'fun_plug' 'dns-343' should get you started.

HTH,

Thanks, I'll look into it.  Quick question, what exactly does fun_plugging do?
Thanks again
