Well, here's the problem.. I've had this router for 3 days. It worked perfect the first day and I was very happy with the product. However.... yesterday I noticed that my computer had no internet connection. I looked and apparently no wireless networks were available. I reset my DIR 655, reinstalled the installation disk, and it worked fine wirelessly for about 4 hours. I don't know what to do about it. I've called Comcast and they said that everything is working fine on their part. I have an Arris modem and using a dynamic ip and dhcp. all the settings look fine. Like I said, it will work fine for a few hours and then no internet connection is found. All the lights are on and everything, so it should be working. Also, if I connect my ethernet cable to my DIR 655 and directly to my laptop, it works fine. I'm just not picking up any wireless signal. Help??? I mean, jeeze.... this is a brand new router and it's already giving me trouble.

Check the DIR-655 Status -> Logs. If it says wireless init fails somewhere, likely it's DOA.

well, i attempted to view the logs, but my service stopped working. now i reset my modem and it wont even work wirelessly at all now. now it only works through my ethernet cable.. im starting to get pretty pissed...

by the way... the router and the pc can be right next to each other and i still get no wireless signal, so i highly doubt it is due to any kind of interference.

Theoretically this is possible. But not the case here. :D
You need to figure out whether it is your NIC/OS or the router. This "(...)reinstalled the installation disk" puzzles me because it should work without any 'installation disk'. What's your OS (and SP)? Also, the router can be broken (wireless part). It sux, but production errors do occur unfortunately (anywhere).

I'm using windows vista. im guessing it must be the router because I have used this laptop numerous times to connect to the internet with a wireless network. i'm using comcast. (i guess by sp you mean service providor?) sp can stand for many different things.. lol. but yeah, right now im leaning towards the wireless part of the router being broken... it use to work for a few hours once i reset the router, but now it won't work at all.

on another note.. i was searching online and there was someone who had the exact same problem while using comcast and attempting to use their Arris modem with the dir 655... the wireless network would work for a few hours and then stop... the post he made was from last year, too, so i doubt my reply to it will ever be read. i found it on cnet... so i guess there is a possibility with there being an issue between the dir 655 and the arris dsl modem.

But my router shuts off the wireless radio every few minutes, not every few hours. I've been going around and around with D-Link Customer Abuse for almost a year now without getting any useful help from them.

Use this to see what interference is in your wireless area : http://www.metageek.net/products/inssider
The wireless radio will restart when it changes channels, so you can use inssider to find a channel that is not being used. Also some cordless phones will interfere with the radio too.

just got off the phone with dlink tech support... no help there whatsoever... they tried blaming it on the adapter for my laptop... i've never had a problem with this laptop. ever.

update.. sent the router back... went to my sister's house (she has wireless) and was easily able to connect to her network. :P it definitely was NOT my laptop. anyways... im exchanging the broken one for a new one... if the next one doesnt work, then i know.. 99.9 % that it had to be some kind of error on my part, but i highly doubt it...
