ok - I'm consolidating all of my MP3's into one location - the DNS-323 seems like the place to serve both my wife & my MP3 catalogs.
I'm killing myself trying to transfer all 6000 files to the DNS/323 - it dies 300 or so files into it, and doesn't want anything to do with the connections anymore. I turned on "Large-Block" connections, and also loaded "Bonjour" and we're way more consistent then before - however - 300 files isn't 6000 files. I've downloaded, and installed "Filezilla" and (uh AMAZING - that free products like this exist!) and it's transferring amazingly well using FTP, but SMB isn't working out very well.
System is OSX - Snow Leopard 6gb, 160gb SSD Intel
Network - 802.11n network - 104megabit (Spec-n Draft i think?)
The drives are connected consistantly - but the quantity of files is possibly giving the SL/DNS-323 combo a bad tummy... FTP is working great...
(and it's connected into a gigabit router on the Linksys router)
Is this setting? Bonjour & Firefly are the two add-ins I'm using - I have no CLUE how to check the Bonjour Server on the DNS-323 to see if thats how the connection is being made. The connection became a LITTLE more consistent - but no clue how to check Mac & DNS to see if Bonjour is active/working/being used.

Have you tried enabling FTP on the dns-323 and using a client like FileZilla to queue and send the files? Let us know if the same disconnect situation happens.

I've had similar problems when copying large amounts of files to other network devices from osx. My solution is to do it in chunks, a few hundred at time. It is pretty annoing though, but perhaps more of osx issue? :o

You are connected wirelessly? Did you try it wired as well?

I've used the DNS-323 with FW version 1.05, 1.06 and 1.08b5 on our home Macs running OS X 10.5 and 10.6, both wired via 1000Mbit switch as well as wireless over an 802.11n AP, and I've never seen this problem.
And I'm sharing a ~30,000 file music library.
FWIW, I do not use large block/jumbo frame or the DNS-323 beta firmware's Bonjour service. SMB has always worked fairly well.
