Title: Logging outbound traffic with wallwatcher
Post by: nytek on September 29, 2009, 03:05:38 AM
Has anyone set up logging with wallwatcher? I seem to have inbound logging only, no outbound at all. Thanks in advance for your help.

AFAIK there is no way to log all traffic, it only logs blocked connections. This was a big disappointment, and is a major deficiency in the router firmware in my opinion.

You can capture outgoing web traffic by by adding an access control rule.

When you are finished it will look like this:
Policy Table
Enable    Policy    Machine Filtering Logged Schedule
xLogging Other MachinesLog Web Access OnlyYes Always

When this worked for me it only captured outbound traffic to port 80 and port 443.

This doesn't seem to work at all.  I've tried all settings and all I get is a message in the logs that says something like a policy has been applied.  Anyone know how to log outbound URL / web traffic on a DIR-655?  Young kids at home :-)
Thanks,

Works for me. It can be a little tricky to set up.

Code: [Select]
Policy Table
Enable Policy Machine          Filtering             Logged      Schedule
(checked) logging Other Machines Log Web Access Only   Yes         Always
