Firmware: 1.03 official with ADS add-on
Server: Windows 2003 server
Every night we shutdown the server, but DNS-343 remains ON.
When server restarts, ADS fails and we have to restart ADS add-on to work properly.
¿Is this normal?
Thank you for your help

Hi 'dvasa',
Not sure why you are shutting down your Domain Controller nightly - DC's are meant to stay on 24x7x365.25 - but I suspect that the ADS service on the DNS crashes as it's unable to refresh its User & Group information from the DC.

Thanks for the help, hilaireg
We don't need a system working 24 h a day, this is the reason.
With this configuration, versión 1.03b60 works fine, so I think the problem is the add-on.

Typically, Domain Controllers in small environments usually run the following services:
- Dynamic DNS (DDNS)
- Active Directory Services
- DHCP
- WINS (optional)
Computer objects (ex: workstations, DNS-343, etc.) which typically depend on these services will be affected as a result of the extended shutdown period. If there is a significant disparity in time, you will encounter problems as Active Directory and Domain Controllers are time-sensitive technologies.
Here's an article regarding virtualization and ADS DC's ... it covers some of the issues folks typically run into as a result of extended shutdowns:
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/888794
Few suggestions:
1) Remove your DNS from Active Directory, disable ADS on the DNS-343, run the DNS-343 in non-Active Directory mode since you are shutting down you DC.
2) Shutdown the DNS-343 before shutting down your DC; i.e. your DC should be the last device to go offline and the first device to go online.
3) Alternatively, leave your DC on as it is supposed to be.
