I jost got a DNS323 and the email alert is not working. I have both gmail and yahoo accounts and I am still getting "Test result: Failure". I also have the latest firmware 1.07. Any ideas?
thanks

Can you post your Email Alert config? Use a fictitious email name/password for purposes of the forum.

I basically entered for example:
User Name : DNS3232
Password : 12345ASDF
SMTP Server : smtp.gmail.com
Sender E-mail : DNS3232@gmail.com
Receiver E-mail : DNS3232@gmail.com
And after entering all my info, I click on "Test E-Mail" and I get the message "Test result: Failure". I also entered a yahoo account as Receiver "Receiver E-mail" and it also does not work.
Ideas?

Here are a few things to look at:
- Ensure that your ISP permits mail server relay - i.e. using a non-ISP SMTP server.
- Ensure that your router isn't blocking outbound mail TCP/IP Port 25; doubt this will be your issue
- Try setting the smtp mail server port for gmail to: smtp.gmail.com:587
- Try account mode with the account name set to: recent:<yourusername>@gmail.com
Many server now require SSL for Incoming E-mail as well as for Outgoing e-mail. If all else fails, set the SMTP server to the ISP SMTP server, change to Anonymous, and set the Sender Email to the one provided by your ISP.
HTH,
