Title: 7DBi High-Gain Indoor Antenna and DIR-615
Post by: sbelli on September 30, 2009, 07:45:58 PM
Just bought a D-Link 7DBi to extend the range on my router, which was supposed to have removable antennas to extend. However, when I tried to put it on, I found that they are, in fact, removable, but not with a connector! Pull it out and the raw wire is there.

Can I not use the 7DBi with my DIR-615???? I figured it would be since I was buying a D-Link product for a D-Link product (This was a Buy.com purchase so returning will be a pain in the a**).

The best variant to buy on eBay following components:
1. The aerial http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=280383658149 (http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=280383658149)

2. An adapter for the aerial and a router  http://cgi.ebay.com/N-male-to-RP-SMA-male-straight-Adapter-connector-RF_W0QQitemZ260498986083QQcmdZViewItemQQptZLH_DefaultDomain_0?hash=item3ca6f31463 (http://cgi.ebay.com/N-male-to-RP-SMA-male-straight-Adapter-connector-RF_W0QQitemZ260498986083QQcmdZViewItemQQptZLH_DefaultDomain_0?hash=item3ca6f31463)

3. A cable  (3 metres are better) http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=170308299453&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT (http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=170308299453&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT)

For these three components I have paid only 25,01 USD

The cover zone has turned out in 1,5 kilometres if the aerial indoors. If the aerial to use as external the covering of 3-5 kilometres (with presence of hindrances turns out)

@ dvinsk .... Check your speeds.. As far as I know there are no third party antennas that support wireless N...

dvinsk - Please PM me the results if you are getting wireless n speeds or not etc..

Also to the original poster.. You have a REV. C i think which don't hav removable antennas..

Does anybody know if g antennas will do wireless n? Would I need 2 antennas to upgrade the dir-615 (they do have to match correct?)

For more or less good reception in a range - N - it is necessary three aerials :P
Because the signal gathers from all aerials and is summarised...

I will buy a new router from EDIMAX BR-6574n because from Dlink there is no support and my device DIR-615 A1 very badly functions at software level. It will be easier to me to buy the new device which stably to work :-*
