can someone help me change my IP address..
i have tried the DHCP release/renew thingy..but it doesnt change my IP address..
switching off n on doesnt work either..
please gimme instructions..

Your ISP is probably giving out the IP address based upon the MAC address of your DSL or cable modem. Only way to get a new IP is a new MAC -- and/or calling and asking your IP to change it. Depends upon their policies.
You could try unplugging it all for 24 hours, plugging it back in -- that might solve it. Not much you can do really...

well it won't especially if your modem is actually a router. In that case, it is the DHCP server and will give you the same IP. The only way I know is to change your modem to brigde connection and turn off DHCP on it, then check the DHCP on the router. Now, the router hands out the IP addresses and will change it every so often, but the address of the router remains the same. Make sure you did not check the reservation ;)

Changing the MAC address seen by the modem, ( E.g. the clone MAC address section of the WAN interface) then power cycling the modem will force the ISP to update your address.
