Hello folks,
I'm curious about something, and I am not sure if this is normal behavior, or if it is a problem. In the past, every time I've updated my firmware on my DIR-655, I've always gone and made a download of the configuration, so that I can restore it after the fw update. Every single time I try to do the restore, it fails and says it can't use it, (I don't remember the exact error right now) and I have to re-set everything up from scratch again. It takes a long time to do it, and I don't always remember every little detail that I had set. I tried to write it all down last time, but I think I forgot some stuff. So my question is, is it normal behavior, or is this supposed to work? I am currently on FW Version 1.31NA. I have never had any problems with any fw version, like it sounds like a lot of people here do, I typically upgrade when a new version becomes available, just to be at the latest, but in this case, I haven't wanted to go through all the rigamarole of re-configuring if the restore doesn't work again.

9/10 times restoring the config file works OK. With major releases (from 1.2x to 1.3x0 it is better to reconfigure manually. If the saved config is 'damaged' just a little bit (literally ;) wireless saves can cause this) the reloaded config will cause problems.

Well, I've never done it wirelessly, I've always figured it was safer to do it wired, just in case. Frankly, I don't remember what versions I've gone to in the past, I just know it's happened three times now in a row. Is there a way to tell if the config is damaged BEFORE I do the upgrade so that I can hope that it will restore properly?
